‘Activity Idea: An Adventure On The Train’

‘Daddy look at all the trains’ shouted Poppet excitedly as we walked along the train platform.

An Adventure On The Train

Activity Idea: Journey on a train

Ingredients: You, your kid, snacks/packed lunch and a destination

Budget: Dependent on journey length but less than £10

Duration: 1 hour to a whole day out

Sometimes the simplest of activities can mean so much to a child.

Things that I wouldn’t normally think twice about, can be a true adventure to a young person.

As I’ve written before I had a very disrupted childhood and struggle for inspiration on fun things to do with my kids.

So over the next few months I am going to begin posting activity ideas for parents to do with the their kids.

This weekend myself and my 4yo daughter Poppet went on a train journey to our local town to do a spot of shopping. We had been on a train as a family 18 months ago but I think she was too young to really know what was going on.

But today was different and the happiness in her face was priceless.

After buying our ticket we boarded, dropped the kids off at the pool on the train toilet (Father’s daughter) and then bagged a table seat.

Looking out of the window at all the things to see together with other trains was fascinating for her.

Watching the glee on Poppet’s was priceless :-)

Even though I spend what seems like half my life on trains this activity was really good fun and very enjoyable for both Dad and Daughter.

Ooh yes we love a train journey here – the only problem is she thinks we’re going on holiday at the mo as we’ve got the train to Gatwick a couple of times! Apparently getting off at Fratton instead of Spain is a bit less exciting… lol :)))

Lol – nothing wrong with Fratton – I’m all for giving kids a well rounded experience and with the weather getting better you can go and have picnics with the Fratton Park smack addicts ;-)
